Our solution provides a digital representation of real life assets and events. For this representation to be accurate it is very important that:
Teltonika manufactures a variety of devices. Although the example that follows is for a particular model, it applies to the FMBXXX deep installation range of devices.
With regards to wiring, the minimum requirement of pins in order for the basics to work are:
Important!
It is important to wire the VCC and Gnd pin of the device to existing wiring that will always supply power to the device, for example, do not wire these pins to the ignition or after other components that could cut off power to the Teltonika device, where possible run a new cable with a inline fuse (3A, 125V) directly from the battery for VCC and GND, the device must always have power!
It is important that the method used for joining / connecting any pin on the Teltonika device are of such that it can not deteriorate or come loose over time from example vibration on bad road surface travelled or rough vehicle idling.
For instance, crimp lugs / terminals to wires and use a nut and a solvent like lock-tight to make sure that the nut holding the lug/terminal in place cant unwind without applying extreme force.
Consider soldering wires to lugs to prevent wires from slipping out of the crimped terminal.
Important!
When fixing/securing the Teltonika module inside of the vehicle, its of utmost importance that the device is installed and stays in the indicated position as the device has internal components that are being used, for instance an accelerometer. If this is not adhered to, data from such components might not produce the correct results that is expected by our platform and might produce inaccurate or incorrect feedback from our platform.
It is equally important that the device is not fixed within a metal enclosed space as the device has a built in cellular radio which needs to receive cellular signals from surrounding cellular towers.
The antenna connector needs to be handled with care when connecting the antenna to the device.
The antenna should be placed / fixed upright in a location where it could recieve a good enough signal, ideally close to a window where it has line of sight to the sky.
Once satisfied that the installation has been completed, it is imperrative that we are made aware of this.
In order to provide the service that we do, we require information with regards to the vehicle from your fleet as well as the device installed.
